Assurant Solutions to create 25 new jobs in Cork

22 June 2007 - Assurant Solutions, a specialist in creating, underwriting and administering niche insurance protection products, today announced its intention to enhance the service offering of its existing administrative centre of excellence in Cork. This will facilitate the expansion of both its capabilities to process new product lines and the introduction of new technologies to further improve service levels to its clients and their customers. As a result of this announcement, 25 new jobs will be created in the Cork office.

Established in 1999 and located in Cork, Assurant Services Ireland Limited (ASIL) provides operations support to Assurant Solutions in both the United States and Europe, including life, disability and involuntary unemployment claims assistance for creditor insurance and debt protection programmes. It also serves as the IT hub for Assurant Solutions operations throughout Europe.

Ian Moffatt, Managing Director, Assurant Solutions UK and Ireland, comments: “We have built an experienced team of people with a strong service ethic and tremendous expertise in administering a wide range of insurance products both here in the UK and in Cork. The Cork centre, however, has the capabilities and facilities to accommodate significant expansion. Having undertaken an extensive due diligence process, we have recognised that bringing our operational centres together under one roof will not only deliver greater efficiencies in our processes but also provide us with the required capacity to support the business as we seek to achieve our long-term objective of developing and underwriting niche insurance products not only in the UK but also in the wider European marketplace.”

As a result, the claims management, policy processing and telephone service functions currently based in Slough will be transferred to ASIL under TUPE regulations by the end of November 2007. Nineteen UK staff will be impacted and Assurant Solutions aim to redeploy within its UK operation where possible.

Assurant Solutions specialises in creating insurance products including payment protection insurance, warranty and service contracts, and credit card price and purchase protection. The business works with financial institutions, intermediaries, brokers and high street and home shopping retailers to design, develop, underwrite, administer and market these niche insurance lines.
